Blount County Democratic Party has New Leadership

The Blount County Democratic Party held its leadership convention and elected a new executive committee along with new officers.

Each District Representative elected will serve a two year term on the County Executive Committee representing their commission district.

The new Executive Committee elected and installed new officers:

Chair- Tony Webb

1st Vice Chair-Marte Lawrence

2nd Vice Chair-Robert Brehm

Secretary-Ruth Holloway

Treasurer-Terry Morgan

We welcome the opportunity to represent your party for the next two years and work toward electing more Democrats to local, state and national office.

Blount County Democratic Party Announces Party Reorganization Dates

The Blount County Democratic Party will hold its Biannual Party Re-Organization on Saturday, April 6, 2013. The Re-Organization will be held at the MLK Center located at 209 E Franklin St Alcoa, TN 37701. Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. with a light breakfast provided. At 11:00 a.m. the Doors will LOCK and the proceedings to elect new district representatives (based on each county commission voting district) along with alternates will begin. Once those representatives are elected by the Declared Democratic Voters of that district, the candidate committee will then present a slate of officers to the newly elected Executive Committee who will then vote on the officers.

Those people who are interested in serving on the Executive Committee
Must be willing to attend meetings at least once per month
because we have to have a quorum of executive committee members to conduct party business.

Anyone who is interested in attending is welcome. Participants will be required to sign a declaration that they are a registered voter and a democrat. These forms are filed with the state and were sent out on the blountdems yahoo group. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Tony Webb or Marte Lawrence.
