Tuesday September 1 at 7-8 pm Tennessee Justice Center is sponsoring an event to discuss the economic impact of failure to pass Insure Tennessee – at Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Drive Farragut. Insure Tennessee would have provided a means for hundreds of thousands of low income Tennesseans to access health insurance. State Senator Richard Briggs will be one of the speakers. He is one of two Republican Senators who voted in favor of Insure Tennessee when it was considered by a legislative committee. Plan to come and bring your friends. We hope media will be present; and, if so, a sizable attendance will influence coverage. Distribute the attached flier to others who might attend.
Thursday Sept. 3 at 6:30pm – Sept PFLAG Potluck Celebration – Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee. The group is working to acquire space for a clothing closet to serve trans men and women. If you have clean, stylish clothing (and accessories) donations, we will be accepting them at our potluck.

Knox Dems Truman Day will be celebrated on Friday, September 11 at 6:30 pm at the Foundry at World’s Fair Park. This year’s keynote speaker is former California State Assemblyman Tom Ammiano. Saturday Sept. 19 – at 6pm central – Putnam County Dems 5th Annual Kennedy Dinner – “Fired up! Ready to go!” The event will be held at Nick’s Restaurant on 895 S. Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville. The keynote speaker will be newly elected TN Democratic Party Chair, Mary Mancini. Previous Executive Director of Tennessee Citizen Action. All of the announced candidates for the upcoming March 2016 primary have also been invited. The evening will also include dinner with desserts, a cash bar, and a silent auction of JFK and Democratic Party memorabilia. Tickets are $35 prior to August 15th and $40 after August 15th.
