Come join us and help guide the future of the Blount County Democratic Party
The BCDP will hold its bi-annual reorganization on March 31, 2019 at the Bird and the Book. Democrats from each of the 10 Blount County election districts will caucus and elect one male and one female representative to the Executive Committee. Each caucus will also elect a male and a female alternate representative. Current By-laws allow District four to have an additional representative and alternate. In addition, the Democratic Women, Young Democrats and Maryville College Democrats are authorized to name a representative to the Executive Committee. The newly elected Executive Committee will meet immediately to elect officers. All terms are two years. Officers may be nominated and elected even if not a member of the new Executive Committee.
In order to take part, you must be a registered voter and resident of Blount County. BRING YOU VOTER REGISTRATION CARD. This will help us make sure you join the correct caucus and make check in a lot smoother. If you do not have your voter registration card, we can look you up on line to verify your status but you will need to show proper identification. You will also need to sign a pledge stating that you believe in and support the values of the Democratic Party.
The door will open at noon on March 31. Food and drink will be available for purchase through the bookstore café. Water will be available free of charge. No admissions will be permitted after 1:30 PM. Districts will caucus from 1:30 to 2:30 PM. District election results will be reported out starting at 2:30 PM. The new Executive Committee will be seated and meet to elect officers and conduct other required and necessary business immediately following the reporting of district election results. All business should be concluded by 4 PM. Other than door open and close of admissions, times may vary slightly.
